PRACTICE FOCUS | CLINICAL SERVICES | PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY

Dr. Craner has been in private practice specializing in Occupational and Environmental Medicine since 1996, based in Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada. His practice has extended to California and other areas of the United States.

PRACTICE FOCUS

The emphasis of Dr. Craner’s practice is on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of occupational and environmental diseases, both in individual patients as well as groups or populations, such as occupants of the same office building or housing complex, and workers in various occupations or companies where they are exposed to one or more hazardous substances. Appropriate treatment for many occupational and environmental diseases is highly dependent upon an accurate diagnosis.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY

Dr. Craner’s practice philosophy has always been to approach people’s concerns and health issues through thorough, objective, yet compassionate evaluation of the problem. This includes:

  • Listening carefully and asking questions to obtain a detailed yet focused history of the problem
  • Conducting an appropriate physical examination and, when indicated, diagnostic and environmental testing (and avoidance of unnecessary testing)
  • Review and analysis of environmental/industrial hygiene monitoring data
  • Formulating a cogent differential diagnosis
  • Analyzing, synthesizing and interpreting all of the information to arrive at a rational, scientifically-based diagnosis, assessment of causation, treatment recommendations/plan, and prognosis
  • Conducting literature and other research when indicated
  • Communicating clinical diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and questions to be addressed to the patient (and to other involved parties) in a clear, effective manner, both verbally and in writing

When providing medical surveillance and consultation services on behalf of an employer, Dr. Craner has always recognized the paramount importance of his ethical obligation to protect the health and safety of the employees for whom he is providing services.
